Zagreb, 20. April 2020 – It’s been a few hours since the Black Cat inn published a cry for help on their social profiles and we did not have to wait long to see the results.
Minute after minute, the pledge amount started going up with warm words of support from the loyal fans and friends, which only is a show of character for the community that the Black Cat Inn has managed to get together.
Matija Mihoković, co-founder of the Black Cat Inn and creator of the crowd-funding campaign titled The Beacons Are Lit: Help Us Save the Black Cat Caffe, soon reacted on the campaign profile:
We were hoping to reach the goal we set for this campaign in a month. But you wouldn’t have any of that nonsense, would you now? 😀Matija Mihokovic campaign update on GoGetFunding
The campaign has been fully funded in three hours and 15 minutes! You guys are incredible!
We are overwhelmed with gratitude and humbleness for all your generous support.
Truly, you are our heroes.
To recap, things started to look grim for the Black Cat Inn crew when COVID-19 pandemic reached Zagreb, and forced everyone to adjust their lifestyle and habits, which included forgoing the pleasures of sipping down coffee and cold beverages in our favorite bars.
On the 18th of March, Black Cat Inn released a Facebook post to all of its fans that the bar is closing until further notice. A month later, under the pressure of financial stress, the crew sent out a distress call to reach out to the community and gather funds to keep the Inn afloat. Four hours later, the initial goal of 4500 Eur was already achieved.
Even though the goal has been reached, there is no cap for the campaign, so further funding is still possible. In the meantime, the guys at Black Cat Inn are doing a victory dance and probably figuring out their next steps.
